Our History and Mission

RB Productions was founded in 2003 by then 18-year-old Ryan Brown with help from family and friends. Ryan wanted to create an organization modeled after his supportive family that served the needs of aspiring young thespians.

Our first professional MainStage production was Godspell, which was staged in August 2003 at the Concord City Auditorium. Directed by Ryan Brown, with musical direction by Clint Klose, Godspell was a huge hit. RB Productions followed that success with Footloose in 2004, Grease in 2005, Annie in 2006, and The Sound of Music in 2007. Grease was staged at the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord, the first non-profit community-produced show in the history of the Capital Center.

RB Productions began its highly successful series of summer theatre camps in 2004. In the three years since the theater camps began, attendance has increased 313%.

Our Mission

RB Productions aims to provide high quality educational and recreational theatre arts training activities and productions to all individuals, ages and abilities. RB Productions promotes all elements of theatre production and the importance of integrating those element to tap creative artistic synergy.

Message from Ryan Brown

Theatre beholds an awesome magical power. Nothing in my life has moved me more than experiencing the power of live theatre. It creates worlds where audiences journey and performers explore. In theatre you can create any emotion, feeling, and mood. Theatre is about creating extraordinary experiences. It was my hope in forming RB Productions to do just that.

My drive behind forming RB Productions has been to create experiences that can positively impact and change lives. In creating an RB Production experience you can’t sacrifice on any detail. Every element of theatre is an art and should be given equal importance. This is true for everything on-stage, off-stage, in print, in the theatre, in rehearsals, or in the media. Everything works together from the music, costumes, lighting, sets to create a believable world and a magical experience.

In creating an RB Productions experience things should never be viewed as a compromise or sacrifice, rather, strive to create artistic synergy. It’s about both the process and the product. As an organization we serve both our audience and our company. Within our company we serve everyone from our performers, designers, staff and crew. There should be no preferences.

RB Productions is not community theatre. RB Productions is theatre for the community. We are a professional theatre in the way that we operate and the quality of theatre that we seek to produce. We are not here to put everyone in the community onstage. However, we are here to provide unique opportunities for the community.

I was barely 18 when the dream of RB Productions started. I was sitting at home sharing my hopes and ideas, and enlisting the support of my mom and dad. Soon after, I turned to my friends and mentors and the dream began.

The name behind RB Productions has a story. As a young student I was fortunate to have several experiences that changed and touched my life. My nickname, “RB”, was given to me by my first theatre director and mentor. Clint’s commitment to me and to our dreaming about crazy ideas that we always seemed to make possible, encouraged me to set goals and seek excellence. I was truly given extraordinary experiences and to everyone who made them possible, I became known as RB. I dream of RB Productions being an organization that creates extraordinary experiences and changing lives. That is the meaning of RB Productions.

In following the dream, the process has not always been easy. I have experienced my share of tears and frustrations. But, what we’ve accomplished and the difference we have made in our community has made every tear worthwhile. We are pioneers. We seek the potential that is out there to accomplish great things. We must remain passionate in our belief that we have the ability to make dreams reality. That we can evoke emotion, educate and challenge our community, and that we can make a difference.

In three years we have already made history. The dream is contagious and we have touched the lives of hundreds, and we will continue to touch the life of thousands.

I now must look at my future just as you must look at the future of RB Productions. I will soon be off to peruse my dreams and passions. I seek to further strengthen, grow and develop. Just as you must pursue RB Productions’ dreams and passion and to further strengthen, grow, and develop this organization.

RB Production is my baby. But, it seems that even faster than dog years, the organization grown into a fine young adult. It is now time for both of us to let go so we can each grow and accomplish great things. Like a parent, I will always be there for RB Productions and wish to remain a significant part the organization’s future. I will no longer be serving as it’s executive officer, but hope to remain part of its artistic inspiration.

I turn to all of you. You are the future of RB Productions. You are the new holders of the dream. I trust you, and empower you to continue the work that we’ve started. You have a bright future a head you. Continue making history. Continue dreaming. Be passionate, committed, and relentless in producing great theatre productions. Make RB Productions a model for not only New Hampshire but the world.

I owe all of you my gratitude and thanks. Thank you for the work you’ve begun and the work you have yet to do. Thank you for supporting me and helping me take RB Productions this far. Thank you for believing in the dream.
